Tankers and gas
The maritime autopilot for gas carriers
For LNG, LPG and ammonia carriers, boil-off, heel and custody transfer decide the money. Naavra keeps them against the charter, from the ship's own gaugings and tables, with the evidence preserved before the automation overwrites it.
In the gas carrier pack
- Boil-off against the charter warranty, daily and per passage
- Heel and cool-down planning from the ship's own tables
- Custody transfer records, gauging and calibration certificates
- Gas-up, cool-down, warm-up and gas-free records
- Emergency shutdown and ship-shore link tests per terminal
16 features for gas carriers, plus everything every ship type gets. Your colleagues:

An illustrative day. The colleagues prepare and chase; people decide and sign.
Commercial operator, ashore
- 08:15Boil-off against the warranty
Yesterday's boil-off from the gaugings is under the guaranteed maximum, adjusted for reliquefaction. One passage is trending close.
- 10:00Heel for the ballast leg
The heel to keep and the cool-down target on arrival, worked from the ship's cool-down tables.
- 13:30A delay at the terminal
The delay and drift bundle is already preserved: orders, terminal messages, boil-off logs and gas-combustion events.
- 16:00Methane in the ledger
Methane slip and nitrous oxide by engine go into the EU ETS and FuelEU figures.
Cargo engineer, on board
- 06:30Cargo condition
Tank pressures and temperatures in, sloshing limits checked for the part-filled membrane tanks.
- 09:45Shutdown test
The emergency shutdown and ship-shore link test for tomorrow's terminal, against its compatibility data.
- 13:00Detectors
Two portable detectors due for calibration; the calibration gas certificate is in date.
- 17:20Machinery
Compressor and reliquefaction plant jobs from the cargo machinery library, with plant trends.
What it does
Everything for gas carriers, grouped by the job it does
Protect the money in the cargo
- Boil-off against the charter warrantyDaily and per-passage boil-off from gaugings against the guaranteed maximum, adjusted where the ship reliquefies.
- Heel and cool-down planningHeel kept for the ballast leg and the cool-down target on arrival, from the ship's own tables.
- Custody transfer recordsOpening and closing gauging, custody transfer reports, calibration certificates, sampling and composition.
- Delay and drift evidenceOrders, terminal messages, boil-off logs and gas-combustion events preserved before they are overwritten.
Run the cargo plant
- Cargo machinery libraryCompressors, reliquefaction plant, submerged pumps, vaporisers, the gas combustion unit and nitrogen generator.
- Reliquefaction and boil-off plant performancePlant trends, gas balance and energy use.
- Gas-up, cool-down, warm-up and gas-freeTimes, quantities and nitrogen used per dry dock or cargo change.
- Cargo condition reportingTank pressures and temperatures daily; sloshing limits for part-filled membrane tanks.
Work safely with every terminal
- Emergency shutdown and ship-shore link testsShutdown tests and link compatibility per terminal.
- Terminal compatibilityShip-shore compatibility and manifold data per terminal.
- Gas detection and calibrationFixed and portable detectors, calibration gas and alarm tests.
- LNG ship-to-ship and bunkeringChecklists, compatibility and quantities per operation.
Cargo, people and emissions
- Certificate of fitness and cargo listProducts allowed and relief valve settings per cargo.
- LPG and ammonia compatibility and toxicityGrade compatibility, toxic-cargo precautions and crew exposure.
- SIGTTO competenceOfficers' competence against SIGTTO standards, with training and simulator records.
- Methane slip and gas emissionsMethane and nitrous oxide for EU ETS and FuelEU, with slip factors by engine.
On every voyage
What every ship type gets
The voyage, performance and records work that tankers, gas carriers, container ships, breakbulk, Ro-Ro and offshore wind vessels all share.
Emissions and performance
- Emissions ledgerCO2, methane and nitrous oxide per voyage from fuel and bunker records; EU ETS, FuelEU, UK ETS and IMO DCS figures, split by charter-party clause, with a CII forecast.
- Speed and consumption claimsNoon reports against the charter-party warranty after good-weather filtering, with a claim or defence pack per voyage.
- Hull and propeller performancePerformance loss trended; cleaning and polishing scheduled on evidence; the biofouling record book.
Reports and evidence
- Noon and event reports by voiceThe Master speaks or photographs the noon data; the report fills itself, is checked against the last one and goes to the charterer.
- Voyage evidence bundleOrders, logs, weather, automation exports and photos, indexed and time-stamped per voyage, ready for a dispute or a P&I claim.
- Cargo claims packShortage, contamination or damage claims built from cargo records, photos and survey reports.
- Charter-party clause libraryWarranties, off-hire, laytime and exclusions read from each charter party and checked against the voyage.
Records the ship keeps
- Bunker quality and quantityDelivery notes, samples, test results and disputes tracked per stem.
- Ballast water recordsTreatment-system operation and faults, the record book, exemptions and contingency measures.
- Mooring line managementThe line management plan, line and tail records, winch brake tests and replacement by rule.
- Cyber resilience registerOnboard IT and OT assets, patches, access and incidents, kept to the class rules for newer ships.
- Vetting question setsSIRE 2.0 chapters, CDI and RightShip in the vetting self-check, with evidence from the daily record.

About Naavra for gas carriers
Where does the boil-off figure come from?
From the ship's own gaugings, daily and per passage, adjusted where the ship reliquefies, and compared with the guaranteed maximum in the charter.
Does it work for LPG and ammonia as well as LNG?
Yes. Compatibility, toxicity and crew exposure for LPG and ammonia grades are part of the pack.
Why preserve automation exports?
Some ship systems overwrite their logs. When a delay or a drift is disputed, the orders, messages and boil-off logs from that day are already kept.
Does it report methane slip?
Yes. Methane and nitrous oxide go into the EU ETS and FuelEU figures with slip factors by engine.
